Well, I am truly honored to be the first one to post in this section and look forward to seeing many more posts from all of you. As many of you who have known me for some time already know I have been playing around with music since I was about 15. ( I used to love to sing Cher on karaoke when I was bout 10 - we should have known then, right?) It wasn't until I was about 25 that I posted the music for anyone to listen to and after I posted my first song on a site I heard from an indi label about two days later. The rest is all history. Well, history to me anyway. The best thing that I can tell anyone wanting to do this is this:

Prepare to get some thick skin. Even the greatest have thier up's and downs and the more you realize that it WILL happen and are prepared to deal with it the easier it will be. There will always be people who don't like what you do, think it could be done better, and think that maybe you just aren't cut out for music. The thing is though there are always going to be people that will think the exact opposite as well. Those are the people and things that you need to focus on. Set goals for yourself, but make them realistic goals as well. If you get taken on with an indi label be prepared to do most of your pomotion etc on your own. Most indi labels only act as a vessel for you to get your music on download sites such as Itunes, etc.

Find a label that works for you and works with you. We all have a message that we want to get out and accross to the masses. My suggestion to all of you is to find a label that likes your style and allows you to be creative and be yourself. If you write songs that mean nothing to you because you have to it becomes a lot easier to burn out and loose your enjoyment.

I know there is a lot of negative in here, but there will be positives too. It is great to get contacts and e-mails from all over the world telling you how your music has impacted them. It's even greater when you drive down the road and here your music on the radio for the first time.

I am here for all of you if you ever want to talk or ask questions. I have had my share of ups and downs as Jeff can attest to ( much love to you Jeff lol) but you just have to keep on pushing. But do it for yourself. When I wake up every morning I think about music. There was a point last year where I wanted to think about anything but music and as a result I told myself that I would take a little time this year to let myself just be. And I think you have to do that now and then. And remember this, even if all you ever accomplish is a small gig once a week in a local place as long as you love it, and you bring enjoyment to others with it, that is what really matters. And who knows, maybe you will be the next big thing, but if not atleast you will be having fun.

Much love to you all.

John

QUBIQ here, http://gaywebsource.ning.com/profile/Jim64

Born in the suburbs of Detroit, but spent most of my life in the Metro Phoenix area.

Been writing since waaaaaaaaay back in the 80s, both solo & with bands. Still trying to find that big break, but I'm confident it's coming soon. I have a history in Alternative/Dance/Electronic/Post-Punk, but have even written a few Country/Western ditties.

A few of my past projects have been Band WOW feat Lilly Rose, Sha-Pink (1985-current), and the fictitious uber-gay "band" Everybody In The House (demo music was released without my consent).
I can be heard rambling on with bandmate Darrin on the Sha-PinkOddcast (free on iTunes).

In the Dance vein, I've worked on projects with such wonderful talents as Viola Wills, Raquela, Steve Bronski, The Garland Cult, Mickey "Mixin" Oliver...

Had a #6 Billboard Dance Chart hit with a secondary mix I did for Heaven 17's "Hands Up To Heaven."
And a Grand Prize win on Sony's ACIDPLANET for a mix of out artist Jason Rylan's "Go Go Boyz."
Also on ACIDPLANET: Runner up in the Madonna "Music" remix contest.

I'm always on the lookout for a vocalist for collaboration, and hopefully to form a lasting musical partnership.

Thanks for your time,

Jim (QUBIQ)

International Recording Artist Kynt! BUY KYNT MUSIC @ ITUNES!

In 2007, in a joint venture with MamaHouse – Brazil (noted for the 1 Billboard Dance Club Play hit "Altar ft. Jeanie Tracy - Party People" - a song originally recorded and written by Kynt), Kynt made an unforgettable impact with the massively successful hit singles "We Can Work This Out", "Makes Me Hot", and "Listen To The Music ft. Sheben", solidifying Kynt as a mainstream chart topping artist!

New Orleans, Louisiana native Kynt (Producer/Singer/Songwriter/Model/Dancer/Choreographer), has set his sights on global domination! After the death of his grandmother at the tenderage of 8, Kynt became a ward of the state and eventually placed in foster care. Through a series or traumatic and horrific events that followed Kynt always found solace in music. While at Father Flanagan's Boystown of New Orleans he attended NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) studying clarinet & voice and doubled as head band drum major at New Orleans legendary Walter L. Cohen Sr High School under the direction of Anthony Decuir. Kynt gained performance experience singing background for local jazz artist Davell Crawford and John Boutte. He also moonlighted as a dancer for rap artist Warren Maze and was the resident performer for the world famous Fat Black Pussycat Productions. Upon graduation, Kynt was awarded full scholarship from the University of New Orleans, Louisiana's Office of Child Support, Boystown of New Orleans, and PFLAG. Kynt continued his studies at the University of New Orleans but later found a permanent home at Loyola University of New Orleans. It was at this university where he graduated with a special double major in Communications and Dance.

The world first got a taste of Kynt in 1997 when bootleg copies of his demo “Day After Day” began to surface in clubs around the world. As a part of a free style recording session Kynt was approached by Josh Eustis (Tel Fon Tel Aviv/Hefty Records) about penning lyrics for an upbeat house track. From that session the critically acclaimed "Beyond The Sunshine" was born and solidified Kynt as songwriter and producer. In 2000, thanks largely in part to Mp3.com, Kynt signed several songs to Grammy award nominated and house music legend Roy Davis Jr's Underground Therapy Muzik. At the same time, Kynt gained international exposure through the internet which led to a slew of number one songs on various Mp3, DJ, & Club chart listings. Kynt later joined he New Orleans House Project, the brainchild of legend Djs John Larner aka DJ Cyberjive and Slater Hogan. New Orleans House Project featured remixes by Chicago DJ Skip.

Kynt fuses an eclectic mix of silky smooth urban melodies littered with well-produced funky electric grooves and non-stop banging beats. His voice is impeccably luminous and rides easily along any style of music. Known exclusively as the “vocal assassin”, Kynt masterfully showcases his harmonious tenor falsetto vocals on a vast array of self produced dreamy, hypnotic, and catchy original songs. Kynt’s versatility and superb technique transcend genre placing him in a category all his own. On a larger scale, Kynt exemplifies the flamboyant finesse, mesmerizing persona, and grandiloquent charisma that cultivate all the makings for crossover mainstream success.

“Strong Harmonies and excellent songs from American Folk Duo.” ~ Maverick Magazine June 2007

From the moment they started singing together CJ Smith and Nora- Ellen Long knew they had something special. The combination of the two voices creates a soulful tension that is dynamic and vibrant, at times blending into harmony and at others in counterpoint.

Songwriter CJ Smith’s back door socio-political statements and often tongue in cheek relationship commentary are both poignant and thought provoking. Ranging stylistically from thumping roots rock, achingly good ballads, minor blues, and even a little bluegrass, the collection creates a bouquet of color that spans the emotional palette.

A native of Georgia, CJ learned to walk to the Beatles but was also saturated with the country sounds of rural radio. Later she found inspiration in the likes of Dan Fogelberg, the Eagles, the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, and Dar Williams. Like a hint of vanilla in your latte, these influences provide a sweet background to her original work.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Nora-Ellen has been a singer all her life. Her early musical influences were the folk and acid rock groups of the 60’s and the harmony rich groups like Poco, the Byrds, Jesse Colin Young. This vast background is put to good use in the exploration of creativity that shines through in the vocal arrangements.

Cynova's debut CD "Miracle Alley" was nominated for a PITA award in 2007 for favorite CD and finished in the #4 slot for the top 25 Albums of 2007 on the Outvoice Chart. In 2008 they were honored when "The Other Side of You" was awarded the QNation.FM editor's choice award for Country/Folk song of the year, finished 8 on the new music playoffs and "Angel of Mercy" won the voter's choice award for the Jazz/Easy Listening category on the Unashamed Faith Cafe show.

We appreciate and thank the queer community for all you do to support queer indie artists. We have truly been humbled and grateful for the recognition and support. We hope to meet you at a Pride festival soon ~ Cynova

Here's my GWS Gay Space page: http://gaywebsource.ning.com/profile/DanPaul

This is a little press release I'm working on. Let me know what y'all think.
;)
D[p]

"My name is Dan Paul. That's my first and middle name. We go by both where I'm from. I'm country like that."

Dan Paul is an openly gay singer/songwriter based out of New York City. His self-titled debut release is available now on iTunes and CD Baby. As well as being a solo male musician, Dan Paul also publishes books of his art and poetry and plays the beautiful Candi Shell in the shock-pop girl group SHE-DICK.

"The tracks on this album would not exist if it were not for the amazing producers I worked with: Micah B., Semantic Noise, Juxxtapose, Jeff Cook, Kasha and Illya Laney. They each helped me to make this dream a reality, creating a pop album that had a variety of listenable tunes with substance. I am proud of the work we did together, and I am so glad that this collection of songs is making its way out into the world."

Gay author Jase Donaldson writes:

"This album is both an autobiography and a call to arms - to all the lovers, dreamers, and artists of the world to never give up on what drives you. This is a perfect picture of this multi-talented & diverse artist - a true renaissance man for our times. Git yo shit togetha and BUY. THIS. ALBUM!"

Michael De Braccio is a Musician/Singer/Songwriter with a different sound. He doesn't fit the role of an black artist and won't try to be either. He's the alternative to what's happening in music. By using live beats and grooves he has created a raw but original sound. He is someone who is an outsider among he own musically peers. He was born in Brooklyn,NY and raised in foster care system of NY and mass. It was music which was the saving grace for him. He started out being a ghost writer for hip-hop,punk and r&b acts. But got sick of ghost writing music for other acts. So he started writing music for himself in 1997. In 1999 he scored a top 2 house record on mp3.com with his group The Studio 69 Boyz . In 2006 he decided to record his music at home. The music for this album was recorded live album. Using only live percussions and keyboards to music. He decided to keep the album raw and unique. With his old school soul vocals and raw grooves. He has created his own brand of electronic soul punk music. In 2008 re-teamed with the studio 69 boyz to release the single trendy people. Which was a 1 club smash on the unsigned band web music site. Now he's getting ready to release his debut album Conquering The Gods And Personal Demons. Which explores topics like foster care, love, sex, drugs and getting older. Each track has a different mood and sound it to. Conquering The God And Personal Demons is a protest to slick over produced music which is on radio now. He's not a wannabe r&b/pop artist looking to be the next whatever. He's an out artist with a voice from another era. A songwriter who uses electronic music to tell his story. Introspective lyrics and unique retro sounds are the landscapes for his music. Watch out for the singles Musicians Theme and We may not be millionaires to hit radio this fall.
